Homemade Toothpaste

You will need:
1/4 cup cosmetic clay
1/4 vegetable glycerin
20 drops tincture of myrrh (get at health stores)
1/4 cup baking soda
8 drops peppermint essential oil
8 drops spearmint essential oil
4 drops thyme essential oil
4 drops clove essential oil
2 tsp. fine ground sea salt

Homemade toothpaste recipe:
1. In a large bowl, whisk cosmetic clay, glycerin, baking soda, salt, and tincture of myrrh.
2. Add essential oils and whisk again until smooth and creamy.
3. Fill empty toothpaste containers with mixture (Google for suppliers or wash out and use your old used tubes)
4. Once filled, fold end of tube many times until tube feels firm. This will get the air out of tubes.

Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Natural tooth powder

Cosmetic clay and baking soda are gentle but abrasive enough to clean teeth.
Natural tooth powder will clean teeth, freshen breath, and whiten teeth.

1. Mix 2 tablespoons and white cosmetic clay with 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
2. Add 1 drop of peppermint, anise, clove (for those with sensitive teeth and gums clove is an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and a strong but gentle pain reliever), or orange essential oil for flavor.
3. Mix well
4. Dip toothbrush in powder and brush normally.

Saffron for sore gums

helps reduce pain from sore gums.

Herbal remedy recipe:
1. Take a pinch of saffron threads and powder them. You don't need much.
2. Wet your finger slightly so the powder will stick to it.
3. Massage saffron powder gently into your gums.

Pain should stop within a few minutes.

Homemade mouthwash recipe

This homemade mouthwash freshens breath, cleans mouth, strengthens gums, and protects your from tooth decay.

You will need:

1 qt of water
1 oz of fennel seeds
1 qt jar or bottle

Remedy Recipe:

1. Pour 1 qt boiling water over 1 ounce fennel seeds in a heat resistant container.
2. Cover the container tightly so no air escapes.
3. Infuse for half an hour.
4. Strain seeds from infusion and re-cover/cap. Use with every brushing.

You may add a few drops of essential oil to your homemade mouthwash for flavoring and added benefits.
Some common choices are:

Spearmint
Peppermint
Orange
Clove (for those with sensitive teeth)
anise
lemon
Cinnamon

Note: tincture of myrrh is another common recipe addition to homemade mouthwash for those with bleeding, sore, or inflamed gums and mouth ulcers.

Toothache remedy recipe

Relief from toothaches and soothe/disinfect inflamed gums.

You will need:

2 drops essential clove oil
2 drops vegetable oil

Remedy Recipe:

Mix clove oil with vegetable oil and spread on affected tooth and gum area.
